  1. “I also place them into the polluted rivers themselves, dropping a single drop or two in with prayers (think homeopathic doses, here!).” I love this idea, which echoes flower essences. I thought of a very practical extension of your idea, based on something I am already doing for our local watershed. Thanks so much!

    1. It does echo like flower essences. You could, say, make a flower essence in addition to the sacred waters and that would pack an extra punch. Love it!

  2. Two weeks ago they completely tore down every tree in a small urban forest in my neighborhood. One day it was there. The next day it was gone. It broke my heart. The graded the land poorly and are now putting up crappy little houses on it that are build on concrete pillars because the land is not really suitable to build on because of its incline. Hospice work sounds like the only thing I can really do at this point. Thanks for your post!

  3. Beautiful day to you
A friend forwarded ur post to me. I wonder if i may be bold enough to ask you a question regarding a rainbow?
Many years ago my mother and i were driving among mountains when we saw the most spectacular rainbow right in front of us on the road.
We travelled straight through it and the colours filled our car as we passed through.
When we told friends about this we were told that it must have been our imagination, as travelling through a rainbow is impossible.
Does this event have a significant meaning
    Kind regards
    Louisa☘

    1. Hi Louisa, i’m not surprised by anything that you’re telling me. I had the rainbow jump right in front of me, I was staring right at it and then it was gone. So I think that rainbows can do things as they see fit, LOL, not necessarily as our perceptions or intellects may expect.

If my experiences with the rainbow is any indication, it seems that you may have had a very powerful blessing, initiation, or some kind of experience. Did you feel any differently afterwards? Did you have any experiences that were unique? Any new insights? Any burst of creativity? Perhaps healing of old wounds? I’m asking all these questions because I wouldn’t be surprised if something shifted in your life after this happened. Rainbows are always a sign of power and promise.

I like the homeopathic dose idea as well – last fall when I did the secret river blessing, I had read on someone else’s blog to blend rain water (if you’re not near a natural spring, I like the spring even better) with Florida water to charge it with energy, which I did, and then dropped a small “homeopathic” dose into the river. Have done with a damaged creek in my town as well. Loved the rainbow story!

    1. Oh yeah! Rainwater and were totally for that as well. And the Florida water certainly packs additional punch! How did the creek enjoy the water? What changes did you see?

  5. Thanks for all of this, Dana! Beautiful and inspiring, as so many of these posts have been! It’s also just so empowering to know both (1) that yes, when the land itself seems to be expressing this grief and anguish, it really is (i.e., I’m not crazy or alone in experiencing it), but also (2) as druids, we have tools and techniques to meaningfully do something about it.

At this point in my own journey, I feel that the posts have started to go beyond “things to try really soon” and into “take notes about this, and come back when I’m ready.” In terms of immediate action items, it’s really an encouragement to continue my work on my AODA studies: continue to learn the Sphere of Protection, continue learning about the natural history of this place, and continue getting to know local natural places and their inhabitants, both the healthy and the hurting, taking joy in the first and witnessing to the latter.

So if I don’t have much to say about the details of the more recent posts, I still really value them, but I’m seeing them more as a glimpse of the road ahead, and as something to aspire toward (at least in broad outlines) and keep developing the tools to do. In druidry as in permaculture, actively and deliberately observe first, and that’s mostly where my energies are right now.

    1. Hey David, thanks for the comment. Nearly all the work I do is rooted in AODA practice. So observing, interacting, and practicing, are exactly what you should be doing right now. I’m glad this is useful to you, even if it’s not useful to you quite yet! Blessings on your journey as always!

Thank you. So meaningful and resonant. I am inspired to remember these ways. Big blessings to you Dana.

    1. HI Dana, thank you for your comment. It is remembering, re-learning, and reconnecting with our own ancient purposes in being human beings. I hope you are able to use this information for healing and good in the world!
